TIL perl is the language most likely be my generations COBOL.
- supergauntlet 13y agoI think that's actually probably gonna be Java.
- AdrianRossouw 13y agoIt will probably be both, and maybe eventually php.
- baldfat 13y agoI can't even begin to understand how in the world Java will be perl. Granted I don't like it but it is used for so many things I can't even imagine it going away in my life time.
- kbenson 13y agoI'm fairly certain the statement is about Java becoming the next COBOL, not the next Perl. That said... it is used for so many things I can't even imagine it going away in my life time could be said quite easily about Perl as well.
