That phrase "seduction of inadequacy" will sit in my mind for many years. I have not seen the films, as I often try to ignore my own heritage...
I will not at all compare, but I will say that we "mulattos" often feel that we get the worst of both worlds — where racial realities cannot be ignored. (NOTICE I SAID 'OFTEN FEEL'.)
But that phrase just woke me up. You think you all have it bad with the "Imposter Syndrome" thoughtspace — imagine having that ^^^^ phrase hover over you, without having exactly the words to describe it, for years, decades. And I'm male! I'd be a fool not to note the systemic installation of oppression against women, and that I'm somehow economically luckier because of how society offsets the distribution of wealth.
I absolutely cannot imagine how debilitating it must feel to live in that thoughtspace, and I cannot at the same time truly understand how liberating it must feel to see hope on the faces of people who look like you.
If you do not understand these concepts, you just need to stop and listen. Please.
