Women typically don't want to be founders. The ones that do generally lack the physical and emotional stamina, intuition, instincts, persistence, are too emotional in their decision making, lack natural leadership skills ETC. If all this somehow changes, any year could be the tipping point. Good luck ladies.
Women in general, I think your best bet would be to try to rid the world of all the no talent entertainers (such as Miley Cyrus, Beyonce singers actresses ETC). All these women do is shake their butt or breasts all over and try to sell sex. Speaking of selling sex, get rid of all hookers, strippers, porn stars, nude models, start dressing your teenagers and yourselves modestly (cover up), stop sleeping around, no more one night stands, having 4 kids from 3 daddies, stop stripping down in movies too, doing half naked fashion shows or miss X contests, ETC. You do nothing but lose respect when you do all of this. You think men are pigs for ignoring the fact that you have a good brain in that head and just staring at your chest, yet women doing all of the things I mentioned are why men think like this (a vicious cycle I know).
Do this and I guarantee that you will have a tipping point that is unprecedented. Men will take you seriously and the amount of respect that you get will be far greater than today.
I am not saying that this would guarantee or put you on equal footing as a founder because the skills and desire that is necessary are not common in women. But it would sure help you be taken seriously, and there is not much that is more important than that.
- magicalist 13y agoPoe's law? Surely...
- goggles99 13y agoPoint out something that I said that consensus does not say it true and factual...
- smtddr 13y agoI've just been ignoring(well, downvoting a few) the HN-comments around these YC Female Founder. But this one, this one is just awful. You represent the absolute fringe worse-case scenario that I suspect a few of the other commenters are thinking just not foolish enough to actually post. Get back in your time-machine and return to the 1950s.
- ElComradio 13y agoPeople will believe anything they fear is true.

You represent the absolute fringe worse-case scenario that I suspect a few of the other commenters are thinking just not foolish enough to actually post. Let me just ask you which part of what I posted was inaccurate? Everything that I said was true from consensus of every study and poll done. I am not about 'empowering' people to do things based on false promises and partial disclosure. If anyone wants to be a founder, and wants to be successful - it takes special qualities. Individuals (especially women) do not often posses these qualities. That is full disclosure. Guaranteed that if a speech was given at this conference about this reality and the facts that I stated in my earlier post, most women would leave dejected. The ones that would leave feeling motivated and on fire after such a challenge are the same women who would have succeeded anyway. Personally, I feel that out of the whole group, more would succeed if given full disclosure. I think that the 'better to have tried and failed' speech is complete BS in many cases (this being one of them). Do you think people still think this of all the gold minors in the Klondike (you know the dead ones). What about all the ambitions actors/actresses, artists, musicians ETC. that never made it and became druggies, hookers, porn actresses, and criminals. Were they better off from having tried? Better off how? >Get back in your time-machine and return to the 1950s. The plain truth (though you would never see this in the media or among liberal discussions) is that women get less respect overall today than ever. Women have excelled in many areas, but a lot of the so called 'respect' that they have comes not from men changing, but from men keeping their mouths shut about what they really think. Do you think that this is really healthy? Political correctness silences the public mouth (and actions somewhat), but not the mind or private life. I believe that if women did not expose their bodies so much and in so many different ways, men would not think of them as sexual objects as much, thus the respect baseline would be higher, making things easier (more truly equal) for women overall.
- romanovcode 13y ago> All these women do is shake their butt or breasts all over and try to sell sex. Men sell sex just as much. > You think men are pigs for ignoring the fact that you have a good brain in that head and just staring at your chest. Women stare at mens bodies as well, you know. > amount of respect that you get will be far greater than today. I think most people respect those who deserve it. Never in my life I did respect women just because she is women and never did I respect men just because he's men.
- goggles99 13y ago>Men sell sex just as much. I see you don't interface with society much... Let me scratch the surface here... how many male equivalent lingerie stores for men are there at the mall? How many MR. America, world ETC pageants get televised nationally? go look at a magazine rack and tell me how much cleavage, butt and legs there are per male vs female, how many male prostitutes, strip clubs, topless bars or car washes, how many porn sites/videos are strictly full of men? Has there ever been a male self pleasuring xxx vid that has been popular compared to a women? How much human trafficking in the world is men being sold for sex? >Women stare at mens bodies as well, you know. I am not saying that men should not cover up as well, but women generally aren't sexually stimulated nearly as much as men by visual sensory (it is estimated about 20% as much). And the fact is that women don't see a sexy half naked male the same as a man seeing a women. Women are more likely to see a strong leader, whereas men are likely to see a sexual object. Why are you even trying to make a comparison to men and women? we are so different in so many complex ways. >I think most people respect those who deserve it. Never in my life I did respect women just because she is women and never did I respect men just because he's men. So you don't think that a guy who watches porn every other night, goes to strip clubs regularly, watches MTV every day at these women shaking what they got to earn a dime, hires an occasional hooker, frequently has one night stands after picking up women at bars, and sees scantily clad women working out at the local gym every other morning, women with string bikinis at the beach every evening, and women with low cut tops and high cut bottoms during the day is less likely to respect a women coming into his office on Monday pitching a product that she us the founder of? You need to get with reality. True reality, not your self diluted one.
- undoware 13y agoThank you sir. I am going to print this off and put it up on my motivational wall. Being a female founder is difficult, and it's posts like this that give me the strength to keep pushing. Now stop gabbing on HN and go get me a coffee, okay hon?
- goggles99 13y agoThis is the attitude that is needed. So many women are given the delusion that they are naturally as good at men at things that men are inclined to do well in. The reality is that women are far better at many things than men and the converse. I am not of the belief that propping someone up with false hope and faith is helpful. Look at the housing boom. Caused partly by the commission for affordable housing. The idea was that if everyone was just given the chance to borrow money and 'own' a house that they would somehow become more responsible and harder working individuals overnight. They would 'rise to the occasion'. Well we all see where that got us. People have got it all backwards. Society needs reality. Those who are disadvantaged need to know that they have to work harder than others. This will separate the wheat from the chaff early and avoid our economy losing trillions in the meantime. We don't need to lower our standards again and again in education so minorities can be on more 'fair' and 'equal' footing. We don't need to give $150k to a high school grad so he can attend and drop out of art college. There is a poison in this country of political correctness and false encouragement. No one is told the truth up front anymore. You have to be very lucky or exceptional to make it as a founder, especially so if you are a women.
