I've always liked the layout of this site. Clean, functional, easy to use. Thoughtful design.
But today is the first time I noticed the little 6x6 pixel design embedded in the background directly to the right of the book image.
At first I thought I had coughed at the screen, or somehow got pen marks on it and was reaching for some cleaner when I realized what a screen capture into Paint and a quick zoom confirmed.
Anyway, thanks Steve.
- jamiequint 17y agoI think that is on all wordpress.com blogs.
- johnohara 17y agoDidn't know that.
- blasdel 17y agoWhy would the wordpress guys use a randomly-placed visible smiley-face gif for statistics tracking? Even an invisible one would be pointless, since they're running the webserver that's hosting the page.
- nopassrecover 17y agoThe smiley does look like it's floating. I assume the reason is for Wordpress sites not hosted on WP servers? Often people will be using WP without the expertise or ability to deal with server-side stats.
- shard 17y agoOkay, I give up, I can't find it. Where is this pixel design, and what is it supposed to be?
- devicenull 17y agohttp://stats.wordpress.com/g.gif http://stats.wordpress.com/g.gif It's apparently a tiny image used for stats tracking.. contains the domain and referrer as url variables normally.
