I was bitten by this yesterday and I didn't know WTH was up. This is good to know. I had two or three package installs work flawlessly and then they started failing randomly across servers (all staging, so it wasn't that big of an issue). I think Rob's comment sums up my feelings. A bit more aggressively, but the same gist.
