    That's exactly what defenders of PHP say, too. Can we just stop pretending that a language cobbled together in 10 days has good parts except by chance?

      If you strip out the good parts of PHP, you're not left with a good language. With JavaScript you do. That's why modern languages are copying JavaScript's killer features, like anonymous functions and closures. In addition, the language wasn't developed in 10 days. It's first design was. And it borrowed from earlier languages.
