I'd hope not. I think developers should write tests. And I think things like BDD is more about communication than anything else. The difference is however in using a language that is ubiquitous and understood by all parties, leaving ambiguity out. It is about contrasting what you've understood in terms of the requirement with what is expressed in the code.
