Your algorithm seems OK, but what was the "traditional approach" that you compared it to, and how did you compare them? It seems like you actually gain a lot from full document search (e.g. products with multi-paragraph descriptions). Otherwise, you might as well just do a SQL query to get your results.
- jlemoine 13y agoBy traditional approach we means all engines that use a unique score to rank documents (like all engine based on Lucene). SQL queries are not relevant for text query, for example you have no notion of tokenization or proximity between words. We plan to write a blog post on limit of SQL based search.
