- toyg 13y agoLikely somebody got their hands on a bunch of files as part of some other investigation, and found they were the kickstarter's user db. It is indeed troubling that KS didn't detect the breach in the first place (or if they did, they kept it mum until forced by the authorities).
- cpach 13y agoIf the intruder is sophisticated enough they can find a way to fly under the radar.
- yeukhon 13y agoMaybe someone found their accounts were being used (profile changed, or money transaction occurred).
- LukeB_UK 13y agoIf they found their kickstarter account was being used, shouldn't they have contacted kickstarter rather than the authorities? If they did contact kickstarter but got nowhere and were forced to contact the authorities, then that says something else.
- yeukhon 13y agoYeah. We don't know the detail yet. It could also be a credit company advised the customer to talk to law enforcement for record. We don't know. Let's hope there is more detail.
