When I find that my standard coding is not giving me the happiness and appreciation that I need, then I take a break from whatever I'm working on and do something else. For example, I might build a new tool that better automates a part of our deployment process. Or I'll automate document generation and updates for our company wiki. I find that these tasks typically don't require a ton of work, but receive a lot of appreciation from the dev teams working with me.
