I commute about an hour (40 minutes on the subway) Brooklyn<->Manhattan. I live at the end of the line, so I get a seat in the morning _every_ time. I always take the local train, and get a seat almost every time in the evening, perhaps once a month I end up standing. I play music to drown out the nasty noise, and usually read, sometimes play Nintendo DS. Plus the occasional nap.
