Essentially, Option 2 becomes a non-option and Carol would have more men approaching her and to choose from. Anecdotal: I saw this girl online. I considered her "out of my league". But what the heck, I picked Option 1. Now we are engaged. If I had seen her in the real world, I would have picked Option 2.
