His friend sent him a text that said "[laughs]"?? that seems improbable
- sukuriant 13y agoDifferent people use different characters for actions. Asterisk, colon, dash, angle-bracket, bracket are all common enough to be heard about. It could have equally been "xD" "lol" And I would consider those among many others to be laughter.

- lnanek2 13y agosince it is in square brackets, it is pretty clear the journalist translated an emoticon or acronym.
