"distracting us from serious research in AI" - like how? By hiring DeepMind to work on pattern recognition?
- cscurmudgeon 13y agoTell me again how DeepMind bested humans in Jeopardy! or had success on hard publicly scrutinizable objective AI problems. My point is that all these "deep" X folks shy away from really hard AI problems which other paradigms are solving more easily.
- CmonDev 13y agoNo, they are taking cutting-edge findings in neuroscience (which studies an actual intelligence that is actually already "implemented") and applying them to computer science. At least this "shying away" will not unleash the 'AI winter' that "hard AI problem" "solvers" have caused.
