It may just be profiling since I'm a middle-class white male, but I've been waved into the pre-check line several times despite flying coach and not signing up for anything special. Shoes on, drop your stuff on the conveyor belt and move along. It was great. That's how security should be all the time. It might not be solely profiling, because my girlfriend, who is clearly Indian, has also been sent into the precheck line when flying alone. Even in the regular lines, I can't think of the last time it took more than 15 minutes to get through security, and I usually opt out every time too.
