Is this similar to the old "Scheduler Activations" idea? http://homes.cs.washington.edu/~tom/pubs/sched_act.pdf http://homes.cs.washington.edu/~tom/pubs/sched_act.pdf I'd love to see that idea wind up in a mainstream kernel.

It was in FreeBSD! http://www.freebsd.cz/kse/index.html http://www.freebsd.cz/kse/index.html For some reason, it didn't work out, and FreeBSD switched back to conventional threads, around 7.0, i think.
