Vent at HN: Youtube and Gmail - joined for life

I use gmail for my work emails, I have a personal youtube account which I don't want to be associated with my work life. At some point I created a Google + account, which I've never used. Unfortunately I used the same email address when creating all three of these entities, so Google decided in their infinite wisdom that they should be irreversibly linked for life. I've just spend the best part of an hour trying to unlink them, I've deleted the Google + account 4 times. But when Ever I try to re-active my YouTube channel (which creates a new + account) it's instantly attached to my work email. I've tried logging out of everything and going incognito, but because they all share an email address, they instantly become linked again. I though maybe if I deleted the + account and then changed my youtube email address that would work, but you can't change your email address without Google +. And even with + I couldn't remove the email address, just add new ones. I know I'm flogging a dead horse here, there's no end of complaints about Google's account linking, but my complaint is a bit different - I don't mind having a Google + account linked to my gmail and youtube, it makes sense. The problem I have is I want separate + profiles for each. Which apparently can't be done.
