Perhaps GCHQ had cracked it, got any info they could (in this case, nothing terrorist related), and then returned it feigning they couldn't crack it. That's what I'd do.
- toyg 13y agoIt's more likely that they spent a couple of hours, figured it was not worthy of more time (hey, lots of crypto to crack, these days they scan the whole internet after all!) and returned it to Plod. There was enough proof to incriminate him already.
