I'd be more worried, but Google has actively fought against spammers and abuse of their services in the past, and I doubt they've suddenly concluded that user experience doesn't matter. It might be sensible to at least wait and see how bad the abuse gets before calling Google "sleazy" for opening the doors to massive abuse.
