Also, I believe Magnolia did do daily backups. They just weren't that good at it.

- idlewords 17y agoFrom what I can tell from watching Larry Halff's strange video interview on the Magnolia failure, they backed up a live, half-terabyte(!) database over firewire using rsync. That is, they copied the actual table data files while they were in use. Pinboard uses good old-fashioned mysqldump instead.
