I can't believe we might finally start seeing some movement in the resolution world outside of the Macbook realm. Think this will ever make it to laptops? Dell announces the year 2025 Ubuntu Programmer Edition ;)
On an unrelated note, I have a last-gen Intel Haswell CPU with the HD4600. There's no way I can power this, can I?
- nkerkin 13y agoApple aren't the only ones that have been innovating in this space. For example, the terribly named Samsung Ativ Book 9 Plus has a ~20% higher pixel density than MBPs. It looks as though the HD4600 should be able to push UHD using DisplayPort
- chx 13y agoIt already made it to laptops: http://www.slashgear.com/toshiba-tecra-w50-and-satellite-p50t-get-4k-display-updates-07311928/ http://www.slashgear.com/toshiba-tecra-w50-and-satellite-p50... Toshiba Tecra W50 and Satellite P50t get 4K display updates
- pugz 13y agoSaying it's already made its way to laptops is a bit of a stretch - the article you linked to said they'll be available mid-2014. This Dell monitor is available in a couple of weeks.
- HNaTTY 13y agoI'm successfully running a 50" Seiki 4k monitor off of the HDMI port on my motherboard. Only 30Hz with HDMI, but I also have DisplayPort, I might be able to upgrade to a 60Hz monitor without having to get a dedicated graphics card.
