I'm very glad I grew up in The Netherlands for this precise reason. Every summer, I took a full eight weeks off with family and went to India to spend time with the rest of the extended family. This remained the case through college (although eight did become six). I did half of my PhD research at UC Berkeley and it was quite insane for me to note how rare it is that grad students take vacation. I love vacation and I love coming back fully charged to work thereafter. Can't quite fathom how you can adhere to a "no vacation" way of life.
