- BlackDeath3 13y agoIt's all an Idiot Litmus Test. There are a lot of people who will not get behind Bitcoin for one reason or another (they cannot be bothered to research it, cannot understand it, or just don't buy into the idea), but every Joe Jackass salivates over the prospect of essentially creating money on their PC. They don't have to understand it, they don't even have to care at all about what it is, what it means, what it stands for, its technical merit - all they have to hear is "with Xcoin, you can be a successful miner too!", and that's all that it takes. It's a gold rush.

- gee_totes 13y agoOne of the initial draws of Bitcoin is that there is a fixed amount of BTC available and once it's all mined, it's impossible to anyone to "print more money". But now, with clone currencies like dogecoin and litecoin (and now coinye), it's possible to print more money by simply forking the codebase. The irony tickles me so.
- eurleif 13y agoKind of like how I can write "1 eurleif dollar, issued by the bank of eurleif" on a piece of paper to print more paper currency...
