- memracom 13y agoBakhtia, Russia For more info on this village see the film Happy People http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1683876/ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1683876/ Note that an added bonus is that this place has the best chance of surviving World War III. Note that Alaska may be a reasonable alternative as long as you stay well inland away from the ocean. Consider the village of Tok which may be the highest elevation town in Alaska.
- dorianj 13y agoWhile that's certainly true, the distribution of asteroids by size [1] suggests that increasing size by that much decreases the probability proportionally? - steven777400 13y agoI think the "logarithmically" makes the claim a bit disingenuous. The implication of 3.7x is to say "similar sized", which sends a message of "we were almost in trouble here". Really, in linear space (the space most people think in most of the time), the extinction event object mentioned in your link is at least 2500x larger than the object being discussed.
