As a first time introduction, my brain instantly related the Boltzmann brain concept to Spontaneous Generation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spontaneous_generation http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spontaneous_generation). Oddly, Ludwig Boltzmann lived during the time the Spontaneous Generation theory was discredited after being a widely accepted theory for 2 millennia.
