I'd say that most of the HN community has enough "skill" to make a million dollars. Unfortunately, skill is only part of the equation. On the other hand, having a million dollars provides a significant amount of runway and/or working capital which is (arguably) more rare than skill. So I'd argue that a million dollars is a far better asset than the skill to earn a million dollars. A million dollars can more readily earn you another million, it can afford you time to learn whatever skills you might be interested in and it also provides you with the alternative option of never bothering to focusing your effort on making money.
