I am not a Googler, nor do I know too many, but the thing that jumps out at me is that the blog post is from 2006. A lot has changed around SV/tech since then, and even more specifically, the size, culture and focus of Google appears quite different from the outside. Google wasn't exactly a startup in 2006, but was still closer to its roots (and only 2 years into its public status). I won't pretend to know how accurate his portrayal is then, or how it is now, but I wouldn't be surprised if a time machine did show a different culture then and now.
