The AHA bill is 1,990 pages long [0]. From what I can tell, there are anywhere between 10,000 and 30,000 pages of regulations.
The Tax code had about 400 pages in 1913, about 19500 pages in 1974, and about 74000 pages today.
A lot of people complain about tax loopholes. I wonder how long it will take for the AHA regulations to double. There sure is a lot of room for loopholes and exceptions to hide in there.

And it has two crucial words, they must make "meaningful use" of the systems. According to a friend in the field, those two words blossomed into about 700 pages of regulations, and small fortunes are being made by consultants who give advice on this. And I'd read of abd implementation where as the doctor fills in more info, more lights on the UI turn green. That one quit, judging the government was inserting itself a little too strongly in the doctor-patient relationship.
