It seems like you're correct in this case. Or at the very least there is no evidence for their implication that the protesters were black Oakland residents. That said, let's not allow laziness on the part of the reporter who filed this story, and elective poor dreadlocked white kids to distract us from the real problem that is class disparity in the west. The elite live under different rules than the rest and the middle class is dwindling. That's way more important than bad reporting, which is just a footnote.
