I would really like to be able to see all the articles that were submitted since I last visited ordered by their votes. That way when I don't visit HN over a holiday or a busy weekend then I know that I won't miss anything important.

Is there a list somewhere of all the "special" pages on HN?

Scroll down to the bottom of the frontpage (or any long page) and click on Lists.

Not quite what I wanted - this shows the most voted for articles in the last 10(?) days. I would like something that can show the most voted for articles since I last visited. Defining "last visited" is non-trivial - I want to be able to look at more than one page of "best since last visited" articles.
