I thought the problem was not eco related, nor related to gentrification, nor weath inequalities, but more that private busses are using public bus lanes. Thats the fucked up part in my mind. Proliferating different forms of mass transit in general seems like a shitty solution, just take a look at how many different bus companies there are in Buenos Aires.
