There are some people who simply disregard reason/evidence and rationalize their beliefs on emotion. That's true, and the world will never be rid of them. And that's probably a good thing, because every now and then, they might be right. I'm not saying that this is the case with global warming/climate change, but history is full of examples where a contrarian turned out to be correct. Repressing speech because it is unpopular or simply wrong is ultimately counterproductive, because it establishes a precedent.
