I switched early in the Beta 3 cycle and never had any significant problems. In fact, I'm so happy with 3 that I don't even use 2 any more at all. The only "weird" thing was a couple of packages didn't like it very much. However, at this point all the packages that you are likely to need work in 3. Go for it. You won't regret it. :)
