Why do the autopilots/autothrottles control speed by throttle and altitude by elevators, even in aircraft that have AP and AT?
- JshWright 13y agoThe automated mechanisms use both methods to control the aircraft, depending on the mode they're in. One of the links in the chain of errors that led to the crash of Asiana 214 was that the AP was in the wrong mode for a period of time (during a critical part of the approach).
