We've been using a free trial of Slack (https://slack.com/ https://slack.com/) for about a month now and I can't imagine working without it. It's great for war rooms centered around solving a problem. It's great for team members in different timezones, they can catch up on the days events without asking. The mobile apps and thick clients are fantastic.
