Ask HN: Why did Color fail?

I sense that the $41 million in funding that it took prior to launch may have been a hindrance. If Color had started out as a scrappy startup would things have been different? Was it just too early to market? Perhaps it was a solution with no problem. But I feel like the idea of sharing real-time, geo-located photos and info still might have a future.
