What is the motive for a newspaper to tell people not to read news? Reverse psychology?

  Maybe instead of following web-native properties and cable news with 24/7 coverage, newspaper editors wish we all could go back to a daily digest (and a weekly recap with more soft news) of yesterday's events. I know I do, sometimes.
