I heard somewhere an interesting distillation of creativity: - if something is obviously a good idea, it would already be the way things are done. Creativity largely ends up coming up with good approaches that are not immediately obviously good and, in that respect it is inherently difficult to tease apart the good ideas from the bad ideas.
