Hacker News and the NoSQL Movement
- adambyrtek 17y agoNot really interesting to people who already read Hacker News :)
- theforay 17y ago:) agreed but just figured people who like to see it all the same
- jrockway 17y agoI think rather than blogging about something intelligent, I am just going to start saying how much I love $social_news_site_du_jour. Then I can get mega karma and mega ad views, and win the internets.
- robryan 17y agoThis is probably one of the more relevant posts of it's kind though.
- jrockway 17y agoPerhaps, but I am just pointing out a wider trend. It seems like every time I accidentally visit Reddit the top article is about how great Reddit is. It is somewhat sad to see it here, but hey, we are all people, and we all want to support our tribe. ("USA! USA! USA!")
- pg 17y agoHis post was more interesting than this comment.
- jrockway 17y agoIt is similarly uninteresting that you like an article that praises your work more than a snide comment about such articles.
- uptown 17y agoSo this is basically a story about how much traffic your site gets from HN, and a plug for the DB company you have a vested interest in promoting?
- mattculbreth 17y agoIronically makes me less interested in learning about this company. Kinda like my desire to ever try FogBogz evaporated after noticing Spolsky's essay pattern of "<% interesting title %>some content about FogBogz<% closing paragraph%>"
- fredwilson 17y agonot exactly. its a post about HN and why people should read it and participate in it. i barely mentioned our portfolio company.
- Raphael 17y agoPlease join me in flagging any submissions with "Hacker News" in the title.
- pg 17y agoPlease don't. That is exactly the kind of thing this site was created to escape.
- philfreo 17y agoapparently Hacker News is a blog aggregator...
- Semiapies 17y agoI don't know that it's worth linking here, but unlike some of the other folks here, I don't see the horrible sin in pointing out Hacker News to people. How many of us got here by waking up from a dead sleep, finding our fingers mysteriously typing "news.ycombinator.com", and then going, "Huh, this is pretty cool."? (Presumably following this with, "Help! My fingers are typing strange URLs by themselves!")
