Make sure you come and leave the country legally. You cannot come to the US with a tourist VISA and look for a job. If you get caught, you may just no be able to ever come back.
- argonaut 13y agoYou won't get caught, though. That's the point. People abuse tourist visas all the time. Even people in YC.
- eshvk 13y agoThis is incredibly bad advice. There are enough people who get screwed badly for silly offences. And yeah, once you get a ten year ban, it doesn't matter if you write a cute article on medium and get it on the front page of HN, INS doesn't fucking care.
- argonaut 13y agoYou are seriously overexagerrating. I worked for a YC company for a time, and quite a few founders I met stayed in the US on a tourist visa.
- zerr 13y agoIn Germany, looking for a job and doing actual interviews is legal for 3rd party country citizens (non-EU) - you only need to get back to your country and change the visa when you'll get an offer. Isn't this similar in USA? I mean, looking for a job and doing interviews don't need work permits, thus can be done with a tourist visa.
