Why don't they go to research institutes? Aren't there institutions specifically devoted to research? Like CERN?

Why don't they go to research institutes? Aren't there institutions specifically devoted to research? Like CERN?
- yodsanklai 13y agoSome do, but in most fields there are many more jobs in universities than in research institutes. Also, they have usually more academic freedom in universities. In good universities, you also have access to potential PhD students and so on.. And of course, many enjoy teaching.
