I agree. This was the spirit of my original hypothetical question -- to ascertain the sincere belief from the practitioner. I apologize that my idea was so confrontational, when your suggestion does the same thing. The sum of the studies and education (I assume they are both untainted and unbiased) is expressed in their application to their own kin.
