Perhaps an oversimplification, but what would be the ramifications if patent law was altered to cover the inventor (or inventing body) _only_. "Prior art" becomes unpatentable, and the only legal argument occurs when there is a dispute about shared IP. Would this effectively eliminate patents-as-a-business model, and still protect inventors who create _new_ ides, be they physical or digital?
