I'm amused that you take so personally the concept of a professional who's not familiar with your competencies trying to evaluate your ability. Which by the way is more than just pumping out code, it also involves defending difficult decisions to your peers. If you can't handle a little pressure from a code review, find a new career.
- devrelm 13y agoI think the problem can be that many times there aren't difficult decisions to be made to solve most coding challenges. Getting grilled over trivialities or obvious decisions makes the interviewer seem either incompetent or like a micro-manager, neither of which would make me seem happy to work with them.
- zalew 13y agoThere's a difference between evaluating abilities and trying to engage him in a pissing contest. Interviews should determine if the candidate will deliver what he's being paid for, nitpicking and flamewars can be saved for future coffee break entertainment. "It's not my solution therefore it's shit" is not what code review should be about.
