Your claim doesn't really argue against the description "old dying giants." The best response might be that IBM is still profitable, but you didn't include that.
- iends 13y agoI realize that Wikpedia is the source of all information in the world but IBM has created or contributed to a considerable number of interesting things more recent: - Eclipse - Dojo - Apache Software Foundation (Apache WebServer, etc) - PowerPC - Watson - SWT - Deep Thought - Deep Blue - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_(atoms) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_(atoms) - http://singularityhub.com/2012/10/03/ready-new-microscope-technique-has-resolution-100-times-smaller-than-an-atom/ http://singularityhub.com/2012/10/03/ready-new-microscope-te... - http://www.forbes.com/sites/alexknapp/2013/05/01/ibm-made-a-microscopic-movie-and-star-trek-pictures-with-individual-atoms/ http://www.forbes.com/sites/alexknapp/2013/05/01/ibm-made-a-... - http://news.cnet.com/8301-11386_3-57541381-76/ibm-brings-carbon-nanotube-based-computers-a-step-closer/ http://news.cnet.com/8301-11386_3-57541381-76/ibm-brings-car... The list goes on, and on, and on. I don't really think IBM is an old dying giant, it's just lost its way a little focusing on short-term shareholder value. Ginni Rometty might not be the right person to lead IBM. Disclosure: I'm long IBM :)
