I'm guessing it has something to do with EU data privacy laws.

  It's because DO only offers internal/private networking in their NYC2 datacenter and thus not available in the AMS center.

I'm looking for free, speedy network for my data to not go through Internet. Data should be encrypted anyway.

    I'm afraid that ElasticSearch cluster may be to slow to work on this setup.
