Saw the upvotes, opened the link, watched the video, came back to HN comments, saw many people confused and criticizing. I have to ask, why so many upvotes then? Could it be that people here upvote even before opening links? Or just because everybody else seem to think it's a good idea to upvote?

Or that there are many more people upvoting than commenting? And that generally the impression is favorable?

I almost upvoted because I thought this was a joke and it seemed funny. Thankfully I scrolled to the part where they mention USB inside the "Pencil".
