That's the point of marketing. What is silly is being a poseur, like many people on HN, and pretending you are above all this. Different people just respond to different styles of marketing.
- bluthru 13y agoThe point of marketing is to influence him in a negative manner? My point is that if you're letting a marketing decision come between you and a great product, you're shortchanging yourself.
- epo 13y agoHave you never seen or heard of political advertising? Any form of marketing which creates comparisons tries to create a lesser impression of the thing which isn't being peddled. And my point is that some very smart people work in marketing. People who think they can avoid being influenced are delusional.
