IMHO to be a good product developer, you not only have to learn how to code. But how to design, how to handle people, how to grow, how to sell. And if you also want to be the CEO you'll have to learn a lot more. It's one of the most demanding jobs you could ever have. You have to think about the product as a whole, in the present and the future. And if you don't know what's happening under the hoods, if you don't know how to speak to programmers, or don't know what's possible within the current state of technology, you'll never be a complete product developer. At least that's what I want for my career.
