Thanks for these links.

- audreyt 13y agoThe romanized form "Saumfa" is also shown in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYVoM8tgbvA#t=0m26s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYVoM8tgbvA#t=0m26s .
- kranner 13y agoAh, yes. It's just that I'd expect Ali to search for "fennel in urdu", which does show the same word in Nastaliq.
- asadlionpk 13y agoyes but it said saunf in Roman below the huge Devanagari :) he had to search in hindi because they were in India and maybe saunf is called something else there.
- kranner 13y agoRight, that makes sense.
- denzil_correa 13y ago> Just a bit unlikely that Ali would be able to read 'saunf' in Devanagari, isn't it? Why?
- kranner 13y agoBecause Devanagari isn't taught at the school level in Pakistan, I'd guess.
- denzil_correa 13y agoBut the person searching it was in India, wasn't he?
- kranner 13y agoYes, asadlionpk pointed out the same thing, and I agree that it makes sense in that context (that Ali could not assume fennel is 'saunf' in India as well).
